1. Wash Your Face The Right Way. When you wash your face repeatedly throughout the day to avoid excess oil on your face, the chemicals in face wash suck out essential oils and strip your skin. This leads to extra oil production by sebaceous glands in skin. Ultimately, the more you wash your oily skin, the more your skin releases excess oils.
"So what is the right way?" we asked Melissa.
Wash oily skin only two times a day, including once in the morning and once before going to the bed. Squeeze out skin wash on your fingertips and gently mix it with water to make foam. Gently rub this form on your skin in circular motion using fingertips only. Make sure to avoid the contact of your nails with the skin. Also, wash with lukewarm water or cold water.
2. Don’t over-medicate your skin. Don’t use combinations of multiple skin treatments. Stick with one that works. Find one that repairs, moisturizes and minimizes pores.

3. Get into a consistent exfoliation routine. Be careful not to exfoliate your skin too often. 2-3 times per week is fine for most women. Use exfoliating solutions with thin particles. Mix them
with water to make a thin solution.
When you do exfoliating correctly, it helps by clearing out dead skin cells that clog pores or rid acne by. But when you’re overdoing it, you’re also getting rid of all those healthy skin cells, which protect your skin’s natural barrier
4. Avoid fatty or oily foods. Eat foods rich in water like raw green vegetables and

5. Don’t skip drinking adequate water. Water is your body's principal chemical component and makes up about 60 percent of your body weight. It is essential to life and crucial for retaining healthy skin.
"The 8x8 rule works well", say Melissa Crane. Drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day. This is close to the Institute of Medicine recommendations for women of about 9 cups (2.2 liters) of total beverages a day.
6. Do not skip washing your hair. We all know what happens when you don’t wash your face—and the same goes for your head and scalp.
Think about the products that you apply, like oils and volumizers - they need to be removed or else they can block hair follicles and lead to inflammation.
That along with dead skin on your scalp is a good reason to you should wash your hair at least alternate days, or three times a week. Tie your hair to avoid their contact with skin if your hair is not washed.
7. Change your bed sheets and pillows often. A dirty pillow may expose your skin to skin
damaging bacteria. An article in The Huffington Post described that when your pillowcase isn’t laundered or changed regularly, a build-up of dirt and oil from the environment as well as your skin and hair touching the pillow is transferred back to your skin. This can clog pores and cause blemishes.
